DESCRIPTION:Gregory May has written an important new biography of Albert Gallatin\, Congressman\, diplomat\, and Secretary of the Treasury during the War of 1812\, called Jefferson’s Treasure. In his lecture\, May will consider why Gallatin and the Jeffersonian Republicans dismantled Alexander Hamilton’s fiscal system and how Gallatin’s fiscal reforms changed American politics. \nJefferson’s Treasure is available from major booksellers\, and the author will be available to sign books after the lecture. \n\n\n\n\n\nImportant Notes: Attendees not possessing valid Treasury Building access pass/identification must obtain advance security clearance through the U.S. Secret Service for entry into the Treasury Building. There is a new process for obtaining clearance. Please send your full name (with complete middle name)\, email address\, and a daytime telephone number to THA@treasury.gov. Alternatively\, you may telephone THA at (202) 298-0550 with the information. After your request is received and processed by THA\, the Secret Service will send you an email requesting additional information. The email will direct you to a secure site where you will input your personal information.
